MTsN 1 Kota Tangerang Selatan Successfully Carried Out The One Day English Fun (ODEF)

MTsN 1 Kota Tangerang Selatan successfully carried out the One Day English Fun (ODEF) Program at the Kampung Gowes camping ground in Serua, Depok, on Saturday, September 21, 2024. This program, organized by the MGMP Bahasa Inggris, is designed to help grade 9 students develop their confidence in practicing English. With the theme "Explore the World through Immersive and Interactive Experiences to Build Confidence in English," the event was attended by 350 participants from all grade 9 classes.

The program was officially opened by Dra. Hj. Eka Munawaroh, M.Ed., the Vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs. In her opening speech, she emphasized the need for more opportunities to practice English out of daily classes and highlighted how this program offers students the chance to use English in real-life communication. "So please be active and confident," she encouraged.

The program was facilitated by the Pink Rangers from SSCLUB24 UIN Jakarta and attended by Boipelo Mathebula and a team from English First Pamulang, along with Prof. MJC as the native speaker. Throughout the event, students interacted with all the facilitators and speakers through various fun and engaging activities.

In the first session, students sat together for a presentation from the EF team, where they learned about Elliptical Construction using a techno approach. They actively responded to the questions presented through slides. The next session was a discussion on the importance of mastering English competencies for future opportunities, emphasizing that both education and job prospects benefit from strong English skills. These two sessions took place around the fishing pond area, which served as a representative meeting space.

Afterwards, the students moved to the camping ground, surrounded by trees and open spaces for interaction. They were divided into groups named after different countries around the world. In this session, students participated in interactive games conducted by the SSCLUB24 team.

Afif Fauzi, the Head of the English Department, expressed his gratitude for the students’ active participation, the support from parents, and the collaboration among English teachers, which made this program possible.

It is hoped that this program will provide new experiences and encourage students to be more confident in using English for communication.
